Outstanding Achievement

This award was initiated by Ian Thorpe and his management company, Grand Slam International, in 2002.  The 'Outstanding Achievement Award' will recognise two talented NSWIS athletes who have achieved outstanding results and, importantly, have overcome exceptional challenges to succeed in their chosen sport.  Ian Thorpe and Grand Slam International will determine the successful athletes based on the following criteria;

  1. The challenges overcome to achieve outstanding results in the athletes chosen sport
  2. Athletic Performance (prioritised below)
  3. Olympics/Paralympics/World Championships
  4. World Cup and other significant international performances
  5. Other significant performances
  6. The actions and programs put in place to achieve future success
  7. Application of the athlete within the sport and wider community (role model to others)
